It's not that she doesn't understand her 'customers'.

She views them with contempt, merely there to be farmed, harvested and ideally replaced by wealthier, posher ones who won't call her a cunt.

The cunt.

Does that path actually lead to anything of use that people want, or do people just follow it because it's what their parents would probably have done?

Re: Her Ladyship
I see that they are very quick to name a path in the Olympic Parh after Tessa Jowell ... an honourable politician but complicit in the poor management of the handover of the stadium ... you can be sure there will be a Seb Coe Way long before a West Ham Way !

Re: Her Ladyship
Personally, I think she did a good job there, held her own and made them all look fucking stupid. I would rather her be on our side than against us.

Let's face it, we are never going back to the Boleyn and the sooner they buy that stadium and make it our own, the better.

Re: Her Ladyship
Sold0 - I get all that. Several times when I was back in the UK, before we moved, I wandered around the are outside the Olympic Stadium, and every time I thought "Somethin's missing". OK, it wasn't a matchday, but then I'd pop back to the Boleyn, and wander around, and whatever was "missing", was all there.

It may just be familiarity from my youth (did I mention that I never set foot in a football stadium again since work took me away just after the Arsenal cup final?), but, even out of sight of the old ground, it was still "West Ham", and peppered with West Ham's neighbours.

They need to find a way to make the whole area - from the closest tube/DLR stations, right up to the stadium "West Ham" - THAT is what being a club in the community is all about. Not everybody in that area should be forced to follow West Ham, or even like football, but the soul of the club needs to seep from every corner of the local area - and that can never happen whilst West Ham's use is so openly temporary.

Either way, we DO need to move forward - the milk has long been spilt.

Re: Her Ladyship
'customers' are everything to her, and yet she has managed to alienate the majority of long standing 'customers' of this fine and much loved club.

It still baffles me to this day that she has been involved in football since her early 20s, been married to a professional footballer for 23 years, and yet still does not understand a single thing about her 'customers'.

Thing is Mike... plenty of us have thought fuck this and just thrown in the towel... it's not about change... I never moaned when we lost the North bank.. I never moaned when we lost South Bank... I accepted that the stadium needed moving into the Prem' all singing all dancing age... but with all those changes we was still West ham United... we still had an identity... I be honest know... I don't know what the fuck we are now... we might as well change our name to West ham Olympic (after her ladyship wanted us called) and just start again...

Brady is the de facto CEO of the club - she is paid, no doubt handsomely, to run the club's business affairs. She is in charge of the club's contracts and may well be a hard bitch to deal with. But she's our hard bitch. Of course everything is money and customers to her - that is her priority. If you want emotion, sentimentality and investment then look to the owners - G&S. Brady is NOT one of the owners. She is a well paid hired hand employed to run the business. IMHO she does it pretty well, defending our interests and fighting our corner. She's not there to be the heart and soul of our club, she's there to make the club a commercial success.

Re: Her Ladyship
As much as we love the "Good ol' days", we can NEVER return to them. To keep hanker after them returning is akin to being an avid remainer (yes, i KNOW, but it's all the same, not prepared to accept ANY change).

As with many things in life, you have to take one step back (sometimes, a FUCKING HUGE one) in order to take two steps forward. This has been our one step back.

FROM HERE (which is all we can have influence on), the board now need to see how they can progress - to get their vision back on track.

The best financially viable option in town was (WAS) to have had the stadium designed & built for the use of premiership football after the games. The club even tried for that but was kicked back by "more important people".

Given the point above, the next best deal in town was to buy/be given (however you look at it) the ground and be told to get on with it. Events beyond out control put paid to that, and ever since then good money has been thrown at bad in an attempt to maintain some sort of political integrity over the stadium's future use - fuck me, Stevie Wonder could see that West Ham taking it over as their home was the ONLY possible option if they wanted it to not lose (any more) money.

Even THAT was politically fucked at every step of the way - not to mention self-righteous, self-important interest groups sticking their fucking oar in at every possible chance. For a great many people the "solution" was "anything but West Ham playing there", followed by "anything but West Ham ever being able to turn a profit there while the tax payer is losing anything at all on the deal".

So we end up with what we have. The club were sold a pup which they then sold on to us. Whether or not they knew the amount of puppiness involved at the time can be argued until the cows come home.

But we have to make a start to move forward and I saw that "her ladyship's" presentation the other day as a good start to that insofar as she, several times, pointed out where the true problems lie, and the committee, to be honest, seemed to accept that without question, which may suggest that she may have won the first PR battle in allowing the club to improve things.

First she gets rid of the loss making events eg Athletics, then the club takes ownership.

Re: Her Ladyship
SurfaceAgentX2Zero 10:38 Fri Oct 19

I saw it as the opposite, we want more control for the time we use it but we won't take on the massive loss making contracts they have signed up to. That will stop us ever wanting to own.

Her focus seemed to be to indicate that the only way for the stadium to be turned around is to look at the costs for which a huge amount is linked to athletics and moving the seats and some management costs for a deal nobody can explain.
I think her wish would be for either Athletics to be given up on or for them to put some proper seating in which is more likely to reduce the time and cost to convert in the future. That makes it more attractive to us but someone else is paying for it.

Either way this white elephant looks like soaking up taxpayers money for a while yet. Total incompetence and no doubt several politicians with the their noses in the trough have made lots of money for themselves and their mates.

Full Claret Jacket 10:41 Fri Oct 19
Re: Her Ladyship
Sounds like Athletics have the deal of the century, they pay nothing, are poorly attended and the cost is astronomic due to short sighted cost cutting when the retractable seating was ditched.

She is an astute business woman and clearly has the strength of character to bully weak businesses and soft management. Government wastes huge money on really poor consultants and powerless execs.

I still think she is a pretty poor football club owner. She still doesn't understand the emotional attachment and investment of supporters. Everything is money and 'customers'.
Supporters are not like that - we are a dysfunctional family and one she will never be a part of.

Tbh surf, I saw that as a load of bollocks. Designed to make people think we'd stump up that sort of cash and actually do something proper with the gaff - heard it all before from this lot and they rarely exceed my extraordinarily low expectations
